Akeem Weston
Akeem Weston is a painter, art instructor, and muralist with a deep passion for fine arts that has been a major part of his life from a young age. Growing up in the Bronx, he was immersed in the graffiti culture that defined his neighborhood. The vibrant markings on rooftops and walls taught him how to use art to make a statement. Without even realizing it, Akeem began to understand concepts like color theory and composition.
Beyond graffiti, he drew inspiration from comic books, cartoons, fashion, and anime. Books like Where the Wild Things Are fueled his desire to draw and continuously improve his craft. After high school, he took his first painting class, which became a pivotal moment in his artistic journey. Painting became a new medium for him to express himself, and all of these influences shaped the way he views the world and his relationship with art.
During college, Akeem took a part-time job teaching art to young people, a challenge that unlocked his desire to give back to his community—just as the programs in his neighborhood did for him during his youth. Thanks to the opportunities his community provided, he was able to showcase his talents and grow as an artist.
On February 24, 2023, Akeem launched his company, Creative Plane, with the goal of nurturing and inspiring the next generation of creatives. Through Creative Plane, Akeem hopes to continue giving back to the community that shaped him, helping young artists find their voice and pursue their passion.
